March 23, 2022 Weekly Update

Every day we are seeing terrible headlines about Russia’s war against Ukraine. The news is tragic and heart breaking. I stumbled across a video this week from Ukraine that was quite inspiring.  Karina, a Ukrainian pianist, had her home in Bila Tserkva damaged by Russian shelling. Amazingly, the piano was spared. So, with the windows blown out, and people milling about on the street below seeking loved ones and necessities, Karina played a Chopin Etude for all to here. I’m sure it was a sacred moment, a reminder that there is always beauty that outshines the bad in this world.

What sacred moments have you stumbled upon this week? Have you tried to get lost? Ask help from a stranger?  Remember, whether we chose an action that gets us lost, or that moment of life chooses us (like for Karina above), God does some of God’s best work with people who are truly, seriously lost. Lean into that lost feeling and seek an altar in the world today.

Wishing you a holy lent,

Pastor Jared
