February 2023 Newsletter
Rabbi Harold Kushner, prominent American rabbi and author, once said, “When you are kind to others, it not only changes you, it changes the world.” Kindness has a ripple effect that impacts our neighbors, our community, and the whole human family. And it impacts our own hearts, too. As Christians, we are called to embody the love of Jesus and express that love through our kind and compassionate presence and actions.
That’s why we will once again celebrate the global phenomenon “Random Acts of Kindness,” as a church. The Care Team invites you to center your hearts and minds on kindness as a spiritual practice during the month of February. Throughout scripture, God invites us to live with intentional acts of kindness. Our actions are not-so-random, but rather a reflection of Jesus’ love at work in us and through us!
On February 5, we will reflect on Isaiah’s words about kindness, compassion, and justice. We will hand out “seed” gifts to help you spread kindness and love to our community.
On February 12, we’ll hear how Jesus encouraged his followers to be intentional and go beyond tradition. The Care team will hand out a guide to help you be intentional about being kind. Random Acts of Kindness Day is February 17.
On February 19, we will highlight Transfiguration Sunday. Jesus takes time with disciples and reveals the depths of God’s love for them. How can we do the same?
Join us in February as we spread love and kindness to our neighbors!
Blessings,
Pastor Jared
