June 26, 2023 Weekly Update
Hello church family,
I’m back from an inspirational time at our Mountain Sky Annual Conference in Casper, WY. We had a deeply meaningful time of sacred business, worship (which I helped lead in the choir), and marking the upcoming retirement of Bishop Karen Oliveto. I’ll share more reflections this Sunday in worship. There are a several resources and videos I will pass along as they become available. But today, I want to share an awesome opportunity coming up in August.
The first opportunity is called the Compelling Preaching initiative. Our conference received a $1.25 million grant to help clergy and lay people learn and improve their public speaking, story sharing, and preaching abilities. The grant money will fund several years of cohort groups gathering in person and only to hone their skills as they collaborate together. The goal of this multi-year program is to help clergy and lay people improve their communication of connecting life, story, and Bible.
Our area’s cohort begins with a three-day gathering at Luccock Camp in Bozeman August 19-21. Participants will receive 20 continuing education hours which equals 2 CEUs. The registration fee is $100 for the in-person launch event and 5 follow-up Zoom calls. The content is interactive, supportive, creative, and will focus on building new friendships as each person hones their craft. The church can cover your registration fee if you are interested. Participants will be reimbursed for travel with all lodging and meals covered.
