August 10, 2022 Weekly Update
Hi friends,
We are approaching the middle of August already! Your mind might be going one of two ways: either “Oh no! I have to do X, Y, Z before summer is over!” or maybe you’re in Angry August mode, thinking “I can’t wait for these tourists to head home!”
If you’re looking for a way to channel that “Fear of Missing Out” or “Angry August” energy, why not cultivate your faith and stretch your justice muscles with United Methodists from around our conference!
Our conference’s Racial Justice Movement and Ministries Task Force is beginning a new Zoom book group toward the end of August. They will read and discuss, “How to Be An Anti-Racist by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi.
The RJMM Task Force would like to encourage you to join this conferencewide book group as they journey, learn, work towards dismantling racism together, and with God, imagine and practice Beloved Community and Belonging. When you register, you will receive a suggested reading schedule, a link to join a discussion board, and a Zoom link to join a monthly one-hour check-in and discussion. Register here: https://mtnskyumc-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0kc-ivqTssGNTaAlwrYqB68Moog1xDl6WG
The August, September, and October monthly discussion meetings will be on the last Sunday of each month at 5 pm (MST). Order your book through you favorite retailer, or the church can order one for you. Need help covering the cost? Let Pastor Jared know.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Jared
