March 16, 2022 Weekly Update
Last Sunday we remembered that Jesus has a body, and we reflected on the fact that our bodies are one of the main things we have in common with each other and Jesus. Jesus walked everywhere in his body. And maybe most importantly, he stayed grounded in God’s love as he walked forward into a future of uncertainty. I challenged us to think about walking this week, and even try to walk barefoot if you had a chance. Have you tried it? What did you notice? What grabbed your attention?
I hope you get a chance to walk this week. There’s lots of sun in the forecast. If you do walk, be mindful of that fact that Jesus walked everywhere – from the boat to the mount, from Egypt back to Nazareth, from home to the Temple, from Pilate to Calvary. If Jesus walked with you – in your neighborhood, on your land, on your errands – what would he notice? Who would he do? Where might he stray or loiter? May God speak to you in your reflections and prayers.
Last week I encouraged us to pray for the people of Ukraine, Russia, and the leaders of the world. Sometimes it can be hard to know how to pray during times like these. Erica shared this great prayer by Sheridan Voysey (of Our Daily Bread) that helps us pray when we’re not sure what to say.
Wishing you a holy lent,
Pastor Jared
