January 26, 2022 Weekly Update
Here’s a fun story to encourage you this week, and it comes from the place I grew up and the sweetest place on earth – Hershey, PA. Hershey has a minor league hockey team called the ‘Hershey Bears.’ I loved going to Bears’ games as a kid!
Last Saturday, the Hershey Bears hosted their annual “Teddy Bear Toss” event. After the first goal of the game by the Bears, fans are encouraged to toss a teddy bear onto the ice! So, in the first period, after the first goal, it was Teddy Bear Time. And oh boy did the fans deliver!
This year they set a world record – 52,341 stuffed animals were collected by staff and volunteers. It took 30 minutes for them to clear the ice! Players helped scoot the bears into piles, and enjoyed jumping in while chatting with fans.
The collected bears are then donated to 25 different charities and organizations throughout the Hershey community. Check out the video here: https://nypost.com/2022/01/23/hershey-bears-fans-throw-world-record-amount-of-stuffed-animals-on-ice-in-teddy-bear-toss-game/
It’s amazing! Or as the announcer calls it – it’s “Sweet Cuddly Mayhem!”
Doing good can be fun! That’s why I can’t wait for us to begin our “Not-so-Random Acts of Kindness” worship series. It starts February 6 – join us and let’s have some fun while we do good together!
Blessings,
