December 15, 2021 Weekly Update
Last Sunday we talked about the Joy of Home, and how John the Baptist challenges God’s people to live lives that help create a reservoir of joy on which we can draw throughout all our lives – in good times and bad.
Many of you have heard of the recent and tragic series of tornadoes that swept through Kentucky. It’s heartbreaking to see so many lives impacted right before the holidays. But one story of the aftermath really touched me and reminded me how we can discover and offer joy to others even in the most difficult moments of life.
When Katie Posten went outside her home in Indiana, she found a picture on her windshield. She quickly realized it was a black and white photo from 1942. She had no other debris around her home from storm damage, but she wondered if this photo had landed at her home from somewhere far away. She used social media to share her discovery, and soon found the family to whom it belonged – located over 150 miles away. What a journey! And what a reunion of joy it will be to have that family heirloom once again after having lost so much.
