November 3, 2021 Weekly Update
This Sunday we will gather for worship and mark two important moments in the life of our church. We will remember and celebrate the people whom we’ve lost in the past year – Saints among us who have impacted us personally, or our church or community. We will light candles and give thanks to God for the blessing of a relationship with these special saints.
We will also bring our commitment cards and consecrate them as a special offering to God for our shared ministry in the coming year. If you haven’t already, I invite you to prayerfully discern the ways you can contribute to our church community in 2022. We all have gifts, talents, resources, and skills that God invites us to bring together for the sake of growing God’s beloved kingdom. Already handed in your commitment card? No problem. Can’t find your card? Don’t worry – we’ll have extra cards available in worship.
We finish our worship series on our Core Values this Sunday with our fifth value: We are knit together in beloved community through worship, music, fellowship, and outreach, uniting us to God while engaging our neighbors. This value reminds me of this little poem from Shel Silverstein gifted to me in a book last month. Shel’s words indicate that “everyone wins,” and that same is true in God’s kingdom. When we use our gifts for God’s purposes, it knits us together as a unique people with plenty of “hugs,” or blessings, to share with our neighbors.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday – in person or online!
Blessings,
Pastor Jared
