Sept 22, 2021 Weekly Update
Today I saw this cool story that I wanted to share with you. Today is Betty Reid Soskin’s 100th birthday. Why is that so special? Turning 100 is always special, but even more so when you are still working AND the oldest active ranger in the National Park Service!
Over the past 15 years, Ranger Betty has shared her experiences as well as the efforts and sacrifices of women from diverse backgrounds living and working on the World War II home front at Rosie the Riveter/WW II Home Front National Historical Park in Richmond, CA.
Her life reminds me that God has given all of us gifts that we can share with others. Our age, ability, experience, and availability shouldn’t hinder us from finding ways to shine God’s light and give ourselves back to our neighbors and community. Our congregation is full of “Ranger Bettys,” pouring out their lives and gifts into the lives and needs of others.
May Ranger Betty’s example of commitment, endurance, and faithfulness encourage us today as we all grow in the journey of faith with Christ.
Blessings
Pastor Jared
