Sept 15, 2021 Weekly Update
Happy Wednesday friends!
As many of you now, our house caught COVID last week, and we have been in isolation and quarantine ever since. While I tested negative, our girls and Valerie tested positive. The kids are doing really well with almost no symptoms. We give thanks to God for our vaccines and the gifted men and women who helped to develop them. The vaccines are working and preventing serious illness. Thank you for your notes, calls, prayers, and care packages. We feel loved and supported.
I will be working from home this week. Our family will be finished with quarantine/isolation on Saturday. I plan to be in worship and preach this coming Sunday, September 19.
The past 18 months have caused us to spend more time isolated than we might desire. But that time has revealed some powerful truths that I’ve been reminded of this week. The ministry of presence – being present with community, with our loved ones, and with our selves – brings deep and abiding peace. Our book study (you can still join us next Wednesday!) has been reflecting on the idea of cultivating presence and intentional community with those closest to us – our neighbors. While being in quarantine this past week, I’ve been reminded to put my phone down, turn off the tv, and really be present with my children during this precious time in their lives.
How can you be intentionally present and mindful this week – with your family, your community, or yourself?
Isaiah 41:10 The VOICE
So don’t be afraid. I am here, with you;
don’t be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, help you.
I am here with My right hand to make right and to hold you up.
Blessings
