Hello church!

This coming Sunday is Pentecost Sunday, a time when we celebrate the gift of God’s Spirit given to God’s people to guide and encourage us to be the body of Christ. I ran across a quote from Evelyn Underhill (20th century English writer about Christianity and Mysticism), that I want to share with you. Evelyn reminds us of the power, opportunity, and steadfastness of the Spirit of God in and around us. She writes:

“The indwelling Spirit of God is never a source of trouble and scruple, but a stabilizing power, a constant. If I ascend to heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there – when I am exultant and when I am depressed. Darkness is light to you. (from the Psalms). The friendship of God is like that, and God asks the same faithfulness of us in return. It takes a brave and loving soul to understand and respond to this sturdy faithfulness of God, for there is nothing sentimental about i.” – from The Fruits of the Spirit

So join us in worship (in-person or online) this Sunday and wear red as we celebrate the indwelling Spirit of God – God’s very self – as a gift to God’s people.

Blessings,

Pastor Jared
