Message & Notification Service

To help us be connected with you, and you with us, we now offer a messaging service in which you can receive:

  • Reminders
  • Special Accouncements
  • Notices
  • Alerts

all in short-message form. These messages could include meeting reminders, specific group announcements, special worship and activity reminders, announcements, special prayer requests, special worship services, urgent alerts (cancellations, weather related announcements, etc).

While we encourage everyone's participation in this project, this is strictly an opt-in service - it is up to you to sign up to receive these messages. Each message you receive will allow you to opt out, or to return to a webpage where you can modify your selection of which messages you wish to receive.

You choose which messages you receive and how you receive them:

  • You select the categories of messages you wish to receive - you can choose to receive messages for multiple groups, simply select each group on the sign-up page. These include for specific groups such as BOC Jr High Youth, CIA Sr High Group, MOPS, or one of the committees. We encourage everyone to sign-up for "General Announcements" - this is where any number of limited announcements, alerts and reminders could be sent; which could include last-minute cancellation of worship due to weather.

You select how you want to receive the messages and reminders (you can select one or all three methods):

  1. Email
  2. Text Message (to your cell phone)*
  3. Instant Messaging through Windows Live Messaging or AIM (American Online Instant Messaging). Yahoo Instant Messenger is planned to be included soon.

*Special note regarding cell phone text messages: while there is no cost to sign-up to receive text messages here, standard text message rates may apply. Please contact your cell phone service provider to find out any cost involved.

CHILDREN & YOUTH: If you are under 18, please ask your parent's permission to sign-up.

Columbia Falls UMC will not be flooding your email, text messages or instant messages with our reminders and announcements. For instance, at the most, committees can expect to receive reminders of any regularly scheduled meetings and those rare unexpected last-minute notices and announcements. We respect your desire to not be interupted by unnecessary messages, but we also realize the importance of getting the word out and communicating in efficient and effective ways.

All messages will originate from the church office or pastor only. Those who wish to send out messages and reminders should contact the church office or the pastor. CF UMC reserves the right to decide which messages will be sent (based upon frequency of messages sent, the number of messages overall, and our contract cost for this service).
