Prayer Requests

When you submit your prayer requests they can be included in the pastor's prayers, the prayers of those on the CF UMC Prayer Chain (both are confidential and safe places upon which to rest your prayer requests), and they can be included in a broader ranger of prayers. With intentional thought and discernment, select your "category": pastor only, pastor & prayer chain, or simply a general prayer request. No prayer requests will be posted without our careful review.
If you answer "yes" to "post to the web", your prayer request will be included in our congregational prayers during worship, and your request will considered for posting to our website.
To protect the privacy of those involved in a prayer request, each request may be edited before it is handled. The request may be edited to remove any information that would identify the person or situation needing prayer.
Please carefully consider the wishes of the person you wish to have us pray for.

| 2010-08-17 | Pastors who are beat up by persons in their congregation
The message of Jesus is clear to me on compassion, caring, justice, peace and forgiveness. However I have experienced and many clergy colleagues also have experienced ones who have all the answers and the assigned pastor is always wrong. Usually there is no room for debate or conversation with this persons or persons. Biblical verses are cited, proof texting, to make the point(S). I have always contended that the church, especially the United Methodist Church which is dear to my heart is the place for civil discussion and sharing of many varying points of view. My experience has been so different especially concerning social issues and biblical interpretation. I continue to be disappointed when colleagues are wrung through the wringer because of viewpoints which are different than others. Each clergy I know is doing his or her best at living and preaching the gospel of Jesus and telling their understanding of the Bible. The church is political, Jesus shows this regularly through the gospels. Hebrew leaders are too. Let's use our heads to challenge civilly each other on the issues. Let's respect one another and not put down, call names, or otherwise denigrate each other during our spoken and written communications. Let's grow together and live our questions of faith. Peace be with you in the powerful name of Jesus. |
